State Department for Transport Conducts Orientation of Newly Appointed Officers, Interns and Attachees

The State Department for Transport conducted an orientation exercise for its newly appointed officers, interns and students on industrial attachment this morning.

The orientation was geared towards inducting the new officers on the systems, procedures, culture, values and mandate of the State Department.

During the sessions, participants were taken through the functions of the technical departments: Road & Rail, Shipping & Maritime, Air Transport and Air Craft Accident Investigation (AAID) and Administration and Support Services Departments.

Other areas of focus included SDoT’s Citizen Service Delivery Charter; Values & Principles of Public Service; Human Resource Policies and Procedures for the Public Service; Mental wellness at the workplace; terminal benefits on exit from service and the Public Service Superannuation Scheme.

The exercise was organised by SDoT’S Human Resource Management and Development (HRM&D) Department in conjunction with other Heads of Department.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Kennedy Sakwa, Director HRM&D who represented the Principal Secretary State Department for Transport, welcomed the officers urging them to be disciplined, ambitious and wished them success in their career paths.
