The Principal Secretary for Roads Eng Joseph Mbugua held a meeting with officials from the Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis to discuss a partnership with the State Department of Roads to host their 8th Annual Regional Conference

Led by the KIPPRA Ag. Executive Director, Dr. Eldas Onsomu, the team explained that the conference, whose theme is 'Shaping pathways to future jobs: unlocking opportunities for the youth', has an objective of accelerating job creation for youth in Kenya which is essential for achieving sustainable growth, address inequalities and localise the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The PS said the State Department of Roads and its Agencies would partner with KIPPRA to host the conference and promote appropriate skill development for youth population in the road infrastructure sector.

Eng. Mbugua urged them to partner with the Ministry of Education through Institutions to review their training curriculum in TVET institutions and Universities so that they are relevant for the future growth of the sector.

He said the sector had many professional engineers and Technologists who could be incorporated in the KIPPRA so that they can engage with policy makers and interrogate existing policies and give expert opinions that can support future job prospects.
