Mwangaza Barabarani Program Launch

The Meru Governor HE. Hon Bishop Kawira Mwangaza launched the Mwangaza barabarani program through which roads across the 45 wards will be rehabilitated and upgraded.

The Mwangaza Barabarani program has partnered with the Mechanical and Transport Fund (MTF) to improve the road infrastructure network in the county and open up its accessibility  to investment opportunities and movement of  agricultural produce to intended markets.

HE. Hon. Kawira said the County Government had invested Kshs.531 Million into the partnership with MTF as this was a cost effective way of doing infrastructure development in the County and one of the ways to maximize and prudently utilise the available resources to deliver true and meaningful development in the region.

The Principal Secretary for Roads Eng Joseph Mbugua pledged his commitment towards ensuring that the Mwangaza barabarani program succeeds in fulfilling its intended purpose.

In a speech read on his behalf by the Chief Engineer Mechanical and Transport Eng. Richard Thitai, the PS said they would make available the expertise, the personnel and necessary equipment needed to make the program a success.

Eng. Mbugua said that this partnership will allow a coordinated approach to road planning and development thereby ensuring that road projects are well designed, prioritised according to their importance and impact, and executed efficiently.

He said the partnership will take into consideration the maintenance of the roads to prolong their lifespan and establish an emergency response plan to mitigate any disaster that may arise.
