High Level Chinese Delegation

The Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport Hon.  Kipchumba Murkomen, today hosted a high-level delegation from Fujian Province of the People’s Republic of China led by the Governor H.E Zhao Long, at the Ministry Headquarters in Nairobi.

 The Cabinet Secretary acknowledged the immense support that China, through its Government and contractors, has extended to Kenya in the development of the country's infrastructure network including roads, rail, and Ports.

He affirmed the Government's willingness to work with the Chinese Government and investors in the implementation of key projects, through Public-Private Partnerships, such as the construction of new berths at the Ports of Mombasa and Lamu, construction of a new terminal and runway at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), expansion of airstrips across the country, extension of SGR from Suswa to Malaba, and the dualling of major roads and highways in the Country.

H.E. Governor Long hailed the harmonious relationship between Kenya and China dating back to 1963, and the collaborative engagements in infrastructure development.

He expressed his readiness to work with Kenya, through Government to Government engagements and partnerships with Chinese investment groups to support Kenya's economic growth.

 

The meeting was attended by PS Roads Eng. Joseph Mbugua, the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China Mr. Zhou Pingjian, and other officials from the Fujian Province and the Ministry.
