University of Nairobi-Global Centre on Adaptation (UON-GCA) Changemakers School Stakeholders Forum

The Ministry of Roads and Transport has revised the road design manuals and standards to incorporate road infrastructure designs that are climate resilient.
The Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport Hon Kipchumba Murkomen said this today in a speech read on his behalf by the Principal Secretary for Roads Eng Joseph Mbugua during the University of Nairobi-Global Centre on Adaptation (UON-GCA) Changemakers School Stakeholders Forum at the Wangari Maathai Institute, at the University of Nairobi.
The theme of the Forum, which has been jointly organized by the University of Nairobi and the Global Centre on Adaptation, (GCA)is 'Adapting infrastructure systems to climate change'.

Hon. Murkomen said his Ministry has committed to  planting 20 million trees annually. This initiative is aimed at ecosystem restoration, and the trees will also act as carbon sinks.
The CS also said changemakers' stakeholders forum had been held at an opportune time when the Ministry was finalizing the country's first ever electrical monitor policy aimed at guiding the growth of clean transport and industrialization.

Present were the chairman of the University of Nairobi Council Prof. Amukowa Anangwe,  the Director General of the Public Private Partnership Directorate, Mr. Chris Kirigua and the Programme Lead of Infrastructure and Nature-based Solution at the Global Centre on Adaptation (GCA), Ms.Adele Cadario
