Launch - Construction and rehabilitation of the Homa Bay Pier

His Excellency the President William Ruto PhD, today launched the construction and rehabilitation of the Homabay Pier in Homabay County.

Accompanied by the Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport Hon Kipchumba Murkomen, the CS for ICT and the Digital Economy Eliud Owalo and the CS for Mining, the Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs Hon. Salim Mvurya, the President said that the mission of the Government was to provide efficient, effective and competitive port services to facilitate East Africa's intraregional trade.

The development of the Pier will take six months and which upon completion, will be a crucial connecting link to Kisumu County, Entebbe and Jinja in Uganda and Mwanza in Tanzania among other key trade partners hence promoting seamless transport and connectivity and deepening regional.

The Pier will facilitate the creation of direct and indirect employment opportunities for thousands of households within the County.
