About the Departments

The Ministry of Transport is responsible for facilitating transport services in Kenya. This involves policy formulation, development of a regulatory framework, monitoring and supervising semi autonomous government institutions in the sector.

The ministry has four technical departments namely, Air Accident investigation, Air Transport, shipping and maritime and motor vehicle inspection unit. The others are divisions that provide support services or are responsible for coordinating matters for state corporations.

The Aids control unit (ACU)  leads sensitization on HIV/AIDS within the Ministry and the general transport sector.
