Kenya-Japan Quality Infrastructure Conference

The Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport Hon Kipchumba Murkomen today endorsed the text of a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) on Public Private Partnership projects in Kenya.

He appreciated the long-standing relationship between the Ministry of Roads and Transport with Japan as a development partner and a friend. Kenya has collaborated with Japan on numerous projects in the Country's six decades of friendship, the most recent of which include the upgrading of Ngong Road in Nairobi and the construction of  bridges in Mombasa and Kilifi counties.

Japan is also involved in new major projects such as the Mombasa Gateway Bridge, which will be the longest in Africa.

He said this would not only ease the movement of people and goods between the Island and the South Coast but will also be a tourist attraction.

The CS noted that Japan's quality infrastructure projects align with Kenya's constitutional imperative of intergenerational equity.

Present was Japan's State Minister for Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism Hon Kokuba Konosuke.
