The 42nd Edition of Kenya Communications Sports Organization (KECOSO) Games

The 42nd Edition of Kenya Communications Sports Organization (KECOSO) Games kicked off at Narok town on Saturday 19th August 2023. The games originated from the East African Community which organized the first games under the East African Community's Inter-corporation and Associated Organization (EACASO). KECOSO games were founded in 1978 and have always championed the promotion of sports activities within member organizations. The 41st edition was successfully held at Kericho County last year after a break of 2 years (2020 & 2021) due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 
The competition calls for the participation of the following five ministries namely; The Ministry of Roads and Transport, Ministry of Information, Communications and Digital Economy, Ministry of Youth Affairs, the Arts and Sports, Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development and Ministry of Blue Economy, Mining and Maritime Affairs. 
Present in the official  opening ceremony was Madam Esther Maina, Secretary Administration from the State Department for Transport, who represented the Ministry of Roads and Transport Cabinet Secretary Hon.Onesmus Kipchumba Murkomen, EGH. Hon Kipchumba Murkomen in his speech thanked the KECOSO member organization’s for continually preserving and upholding the sports culture as a platform for supporting and nurturing talents of public officers. He also thanked the sponsors and partners who collaborated with the organizers to ensure prime success of the games. “As you are aware, the Government attaches a high value to sports and is ready to support and nurture officers who excel in this field. This explains the continued resource allocations aimed at supporting KECOSO games and enhancing public service delivery through a healthy, strong and re-energized workforce", he said. 
Also present was Narok's Deputy Governor Tamalinye Koech who read a speech on behalf of the Narok Governor Mr. Patrick Ntutu. Mr. Ntutu said that the county government is committed to improving the sporting infrastructure, noting that with great efforts, William Ole Ntimama Stadium has become the home ground for the newly promoted Kenya premier League Side Shaban's FC.
The KECOSO Governing Council Chairman Mr. Henry Mwasaru said that the goal of KECOSO games is to create a more inclusive environment that will bring together all participants who share a passion for sports and teamwork within the industry.
The KECOSO Governing Council Secretary General Mr. Omole Asiko in his speech said the KECOSO games offer an opportunity for organizations to come together, interact and Forster meaningful relationships.
The Chairman of Anti-Doping Agency Mr. Wesley Korir who represented the CS for Youth Affairs, the Arts and Sports Hon. Ababu Namwamba, lauded the KECOSO Governing Council for its dedication to organizing the event.
The games started with a riveting football match between Communications Authority and Posta. The atmosphere was electric as fans gathered to witness this clash of titans on the field. The match ended with Posta securing a hard-fought victory, edging out Communications Authority 2-1. This opening match of the KECOSO games 2023 was a testament to the spirit of competition and camaraderie, setting the stage for what promises to be an exhilarating tournament. As the tournament unfolds, one thing is clear: the journey has just begun, and fans can look forward to more thrilling moments and unforgettable clashes on the field.
